What if I am buying from a private party? |
It has occurred to me during the development of this site that as a buyer, I might
be skeptical of going forward with a transaction which involves a good deal of
money without some security device in place to assure me that it was a valid transaction.
It was suggested to me to bring to your attention
the possible use of a neutral third party, an escrow company, who could hold funds
for both parties of the transaction until the product purchased, here being the
truck trailer, or carriage, is delivered satisfactorily to the buyer.
I then contacted a local company in AZ to inquire about cost and procedure. The
cost quoted here was $400. The standard practice here is to split the cost between
the buyer and seller, each paying one-half of the total.
When I went on line, I found a less expensive company, depending on the dollar
amount of the transaction. Calculate
their fee here.
An escrow company does not
do title searches on motor vehicles.
